i have a question can i put ddr1 ram in 1st slot and ddr2 ram in 2nd slot ?
and is there any tool/software to check if ram is damaged or not

Use memcheck to see if Ram is faulty.
No the two sticks need to be exactly same.

Hi Dear...I recommend DDR..because its a new technology and have good bus speed and its a reliable..

The main difference between SDR and DDR  ram is the double speed. DDR can transfer data at roughly twice the speed of SDRAM. For example, PC133 SDRAM runs at 133 Mhz, while 133 Mhz DDR effectively runs at 133 Mhz x 2 = 266 Mhz.

DDR is new and mostly used in now a days, DDR comes in 3 versions DDR1, DDR2, DDR3. DDR2 currently have more users.
